LISA RAMIREZ is an award winning actor and playwright. Her solo show, EXIT CUCKOO (nanny in motherland) was presented Off Broadway by the Working Theater (Directed by Colman Domingo).
Other writing credits include; ART OF MEMORY, a dance theatre piece that was presented by Company SoGoNo at 3-Legged Dog in New York. (Conceived and directed by Tanya Calamoneri); INVISIBLE WOMEN-RISE, a collaboration with the Foundry Theatre and Domestic Workers United. Ten domestic workers performed at the historic Riverside Church in New York (Lisa Ramirez directed); IN MOTHER WORDS (Co conceived by Susan Rose and Joan Stein. Directed by Lisa Peterson);
TO THE BONE, a new play commissioned by the Working Theater about the mostly Latina/immigrant women who live and work up in Sullivan County, New York’s poultry plants. TO THE BONE is a 2011 O’Neill National Playwrights Conference Finalist and a 2011 Smith Prize Finalist.
Recently Lisa was named one of the four resident playwrights of the 2010/11 Maria Irene Fornés H.P.R.L. here at INTAR and is working on a new play.
Colman Domingo is an Obie, Lucille Lortel, GLAAD award winning and Drama Desk, Drama League and Audelco nominated actor, playwright and director. He recently directed the workshop of "Mamalogues" by Lisa B. Thompson for the W.E.B. Dubois Institute at Harvard University. He helmed the critically acclaimed Off Broadway-The Working Theater and Playmakers Rep incarnations of "Exit Cuckoo."
Other directorial work include: "Single Black Female" (Off Broadway:New Professional Theater, L.A. Complex and San Francisco’s Theater Rhinoceros), Sundiata (Berkeley Rep), Up Jumped Springtime (Lincoln Center Director’s Lab/American Living Room Festival), Once on this Island (Geva Theater/SUNY Brockport), Rhinoceros (Theater Rhinoceros), Raised in Captivity (Inquiline Theater Company), New York Writer’s Institute, Magic Theater’s Young California Writer’s Project, Play Ground’s Emerging Playwright’s Festival, Solo Mio Festival, Intersection for the Arts, Campo Santo, S.F. Mime Troupe and the African American Shakespeare Company.
He is currently developing a new play "Wild with Happy" with the Sundance Institute and script consulting a Broadway bound "Motown" musical.
